Chart builder
Values in, honest chart out.
Give the chart a title, enter up to six labeled values, and choose a bar or line. The picture is drawn on this page and can be downloaded as an SVG file. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
The chart builder needs JavaScript. The steps below, the chart guide and our contact details all work without it.
How to use it
Five steps from numbers to picture.
-
Title it
Give the chart a title that says what it shows, in the words your question used.
-
Enter the values
Write a label and a number on each row. Leave unused rows empty. Numbers use digits, a minus sign if needed and a full stop for decimals.
-
Choose the type
Pick bar for separate categories, or line for values that follow one another over time.
-
Check the scale
Leave "Start the value axis at zero" checked unless you have a clear reason to change it, and say so in your caption if you do.
-
Draw and save
Press Draw chart. The picture appears below with a table of every value. Press Download SVG once the chart is right.

Build your chart
Your chart appears here after you press Draw chart.

Before you share it
Ask a stranger to read it first.
Show the chart to someone who did not build it, give them ten seconds, and ask what changed. If their answer is different from yours, go back to the title and the scale before the chart goes anywhere.
